IAQ Test (Formaldehyde & TVOC)

In newly renovated units are often found filled with all kinds of harmful pollutants, especially formaldehyde, which can lead to serious harm for women during pregnancy, infants, and young children's health. In order to deal with formaldehyde and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) in the air, we will use specialized instruments to examine the amount of pollution and the type of pollutant, that enable us to propose suitable solutions.

How formaldehyde affects on our health?

Formaldehyde has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) a substance that can cause cancer. Long-term exposure can even be fatal. For many years, the National Cancer Center has conducted many studies on formaldehyde with various data show that exposure to formaldehyde can lead to blood and brain cancer.
China Environmental Protection Association statistics said that 90% of children with blood cancer had excessive exposure to formaldehyde from their newly renovated home. Furthermore, there are laws in Hong Kong that prohibit formaldehyde additive in food. Unfortunately, there is no rigid regulation on formaldehyde in decoration materials and furniture.

Test Content Overview

We use multiple state-of-art measuring instruments to measure accurate readings of each item. We provide users with on-site measurement reports and compare with air quality standard provided by World Health Organization and the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department for reference. We will also propose suitable solutions for the users according to the actual situation. The test includes the following measurement items:
  • Formaldehyde (HCHO)
  • Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)
Formaldehyde (HCHO)

Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature and has a strong odor. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause adverse health effects. Formaldehyde can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat. High levels of exposure may cause some types of cancers.

Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)

Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) are a large group of chemicals that are found in many products we use to build and maintain our homes. Once these chemicals are in our homes, they are released into the air we breathe. They may or may not be able to be smelled, and smelling is not a good indicator of health risk.
